Every year, our commanderie connects with our Chateaux to bring you a variety of events. Here’s what we have planned so far!
🍷 THEN SCROLL TO CHECK OUT OUR PAST EVENTS!
Our evening will unfold across three private venues, with coach transportation provided between each stop. The progressive dinner features appetizers at the first location, dinner at the second, and cheese & dessert at the third, and each stop is punctuated by a 10-minute cellar experience hosted by our gracious Commandeurs. A special wine from each host’s personal collection will be poured during these tours – and each cellar is dramatically different – so this will be interesting and needless to say, very fun!!
First Stop: Regent Katharina Doyle, 6:00 PM Arrival, coach will depart 7:30 PM
An abundance of Bordeaux white cremant and red petillant are served with freshly prepared appetizers. Katharina will lead small groups to her absolutely fabulous and utterly unique cave à vin! Your cellar tour wine will include a generous pour of 2010 Chateau Angludet.
Second Stop: Regent Philip & Goretti Lo, 8:00 PM Arrival, coach will depart 10:00 PM
We board our coach to the second venue where we will have a lovely dinner catered by Black Apron. From the Commanderie cellar we will have an excellent white and red to accompany. Host Philip will lead his extraordinary cellar tour, pouring 2005 Chateau Lagrange.
Third Stop: Regent Murray Harris & Corrine Fiesel, 10:15 PM Arrival. Make your own way safely home.
Onto our coach again to the Belair Party House! We will complete our progressive dinner with fabulous fromage et dessert, accompanied by Sauternes and Murray’s cellar tour, where we will enjoy the exquisite 2015 Chateau Laroze to awake our palate and take in their excellent and commodious cellar.
🍷 Each guest will receive a 20 oz. monogrammed wine glass to use throughout the event—a fitting chalice for the evening and a memorable keepsake to take home.
Attendance: As this event takes place in the private residences of fellow Commandeurs, attendance is strictly limited. It is unlikely that additional guests can be accommodated beyond the single guest permitted for dues-paid Commandeurs.
We look forward to sharing an exceptional evening of friendship, food, wine, and remarkable cellars with you.
When: Saturday, June 13, 6:00 PM
Where to Meet: Katharina’s address will be sent out to ticket holders shortly before the event.
Price: $275 per person

🗓️ Joint Commanderie Chevaliers Dinner - May 23, 2026
The long-awaited joint Commanderie de Bordeaux – Chevaliers du Tastevin Dinner was held at The Glencoe Club
Participants brought exceptional bottles of well-aged, ready-to-enjoy wines to share at their tables. Each table was led by a designated Wine Captain who coordinated the selections to complement the five-course menu, thoughtfully crafted to pair with White and Red Burgundy, Red Bordeaux, and Sauternes.
The result was an unforgettable evening of outstanding wines, wonderful conversation, and plenty of laughter enjoyed by all.
Annual Technical Tasting — This year, we turned our attention to the excellent 2015 vintage, exploring six wines from Médoc’s four most celebrated Left Bank appellations: Pauillac, Margaux, Saint-Julien, and Saint-Estèphe.
Following the tasting, dinner featured two wines from Pomerol: Château Lafleur – Grand Village 2019 and L’Hospitalet de Gazin 2018, paired with a delicious four-course dinner at one of Calgary’s newest French bistros, Le Charme (804 Edmonton Trail NE). We concluded the evening with the freshness and beautiful texture of Château Coutet 2009 (Barsac).
Featured Technical Tasting Wines – 2015 Vintage:
- Clerc Milon (Pauillac)
- Alter Ego (Margaux)
- Rauzan-Ségla (Margaux)
- Croix de Beaucaillou (Saint-Julien)
- La Dame de Montrose (Saint-Estèphe)
- Lafon-Rochet (Saint-Estèphe)
After a lengthy training period we were in top form to slug it out – Commanderie DIP vs. The Best the AGLC Can Field.
To make the Fight of 2 wines X 9 Rounds a bit more fair, fellow Commandeur and Cork Fine Wine principal, Matt Stortz, arrayed his 9 champs at roughly double the price our Commandeurs have paid in opposition.
A titanic struggle was had as each attended jumped in the ring as referee and ultimate judge of WHO HAS THE BEST WINE ? Nine rounds, 18 wines total. A raucous, punchy fun night was enjoyed by all!

A joy-filled Sunday afternoon sipping, swirling, and creating at our 2-hour wine-painting workshop!
We turned wine into art as we explored its gorgeous tones, textures, and happy little surprises on paper in a relaxed, laughter-filled setting. Between brushstrokes, we dove into a guided tasting designed for curious palates — exploring aroma, structure, and expression — with a take-home brochure outlining the tasting steps for your future wine adventures.
Join us for a night of seasonal celebration as we toast each other Joyeaux Noel! Dress in your ‘festive wear’ — whether that be glitz and glamour or your favourite Christmas sweater — and sip champagne while you enjoy a private concert by a special musical guest to begin, followed by a French Canadian-inspired dinner prepared by none other than the Regents themselves, with plenty of Bordeaux (see guidelines below), of course!

INDUCTION DINNER 2025 ♦ Friday, Nov. 7, 2025
In many regards, our annual Induction marks the most important single event of our calendar. Our Commanderie welcomes into its ranks new and enthusiastic Bordeaux lovers officially as ‘camarade dans le vin’, and we look forward to their robust Investiture into our Order!
Our great friend James Sichel will join us in a tour de force of Chateau Angludet wines and lead us through the food and Angludet pairings as well as provide updates on the state of Bordeaux wines, prices, and vintages to pay attention to.
Pichon Comtesse with Nicolas Glumineau ♦ Wednesday, October 22, 2025
Every year we have a landmark event, a truly exceptional tasting and dinner with wines that have been carefully selected and stored in our Commanderie cellars – in some cases for decades. This is one such occasion, featuring the wines of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. For many of us this château represents the sweet spot of outstanding Bordelais winemaking craft while still not being hideously expensive considering the superb winemaking. Recent scores have been consistently in the high 90’s and even some 100’s, including the 2020, which features in the cheese course duel! In total, we will be tasting 11 Pichon Comtesse wines, of which only two will be second (Reserve de la Comtesse) wines. While the tab is indeed pricey, it’s extremely unlikely anyone would be able to sample these wines at any price at one sitting, and undoubtedly the retail cost of the wines alone would far exceed the ticket price.
If this rising super-second from Pauillac was not enough, we are especially blessed to have the impossibly talented Nicolas Glumineau, vigneron at Pichon Comtesse, join us for the evening. Amusing, highly knowledgeable with a very accessible presentation style, he is a bona fide charmer! He may be bringing a special surprise for us…
ATP Backyard Bash ♦ Sunday, August 17, 2025
Many Commandeurs say this is their favourite event. Following the success of last year’s move from The Shakespeare Company to Alberta Theatre Projects, this year’s event continues the support of ATP with a performance of Marie Jones’ “Stones in his Pockets”, a tragi-comedy that was a smash hit at the Edinburgh Fringe in the 1990s. And now that July is coming to an end, the weather should be glorious (we hope!).
Aperitif wines (white and rose) and nibbles will be followed by the performance, which in turn will be followed by a delicious main and cheese course paired with reds from the Commanderie cellar, and finally dessert paired with a Sauternes. All the food will again be from our friends at Black Apron.

Bordeaux Backyard Bachaanal in Britannia
Join us for a delightfully French-inspired country summer luncheon, set in the beautiful backyard of Regent Jared and Yoomi in lovely Britannia.
Savour a sunny Sunday afternoon on July 20th starting at noon, with generous pours of Bordeaux White, Rosé, Clairet, Red, and Sauternes wines.
The culinary highlight? The owners of The Continental, ranked in the top 25 new restaurants in Canada, will be delivering their take on a family-inspired summer French country luncheon paired, bien sur, with a plethora of Bordeaux.
Whether you have a great cellar of older Bordeaux vintages going back or not, these tastings are both impressive and focused. They provide truly great value and education for the cost of the event. The 6 featured wines are:
- Chateau Montrose, 2eme Cru, Saint-Estèphe
- Chateau Cos d’Estournel, 2eme Cru, Saint-Julien
- Chateau Pontet-Canet, 5eme Cru, Pauillac
- Ch. Pichon-Longueville Baron, 2eme Cru, Pauillac
- Ch. Smith Haut Lafitte, Grd Cru, Péssac-Léognan
- Ch. Ducru Beaucaillou, 2eme Cru, Saint-Julien
Dinner and wines to follow from our favourite Chef Douglas King:
1st Course with Domaine Climens Asphodele 2020, dry white, Barsac
2nd Main with Ch. La Tour Carnet 2005, 4eme Cru, Haut-Medoc
3rd Dessert Course with Dauphine de Guiraud 2020, Sauternes
When: Saturday, May 10, 6:30pm
Where: The Ranchmen’s Club, 710 13 Ave SW
Cost per Commandeur: $350; Cost per First Guest: $350.
Additional guests will be admitted if space allows after May 1.
This event with Grand Maitre Jean-Marc Dulong will be in the Hartford room at the Ranchmen’s Club. Your Cellerier, Stanley Waterman, is busy curating a wine list for the occasion that reflects the breadth and depth of our unique Commanderie. This is an event not to be missed!
$275 per person, Max 2 per commandeur. Ticket orders are FINAL SALES – no refunds.
